Reflections on Summer 2017

Here at Marin GreenPlay Camp, we have so much to be thankful for!  This past summer was spent connecting hundreds of Marin and San Francisco children to nature.  Whether they climbed rocks with our Outdoor Rock Climbing program or explored the creeks with our Watershed Warriors program, they had the opportunity to take a break from the demands of their school and after school schedules and breathe the fresh air we are so lucky to have thanks to all of the environmental protectors in our midst and the vast Pacific Ocean.

We piloted new programs and brought back favorites such as Dog Days of Summer.  The delight of the campers (and parents) as they brought their dogs to participate in a camp aimed at making them better stewards of our trails where dogs are important users.  Our Biomimicry camp exposed campers to the exciting idea that nature is a more sustainable model for solving some of the world's most difficult problems and they chose a simple problem to solve mimicking adaptations that they observed all week.  Our Citizen Science camp brought the promise of technology to helping scientists log observations toward future studies.

As always, we performed loads of service projects partnering with many of the stewards of the lands that we visited.  Kids love physical work, especially where they get to gear up with gloves and use adult tools!

As we move into our planning period for Summer 2018, we look forward to continuing our work of giving your children a sense of this amazing place where they live.  See you next summer and thank you for continuing to support the most innovative nature connection program in the Bay Area!
