GreenPlay Afternoon Adventures

Afternoon Adventures is a 6-week outdoor education afterschool program for kids, ages 6-11. A GreenPlay afternoon of sustainable play may include a group hike, natural and local history instruction, exposure to native cultures, noncompetitive games, nature art, storytellling, impromtu drama, fun team-building activities, and time just to use our imaginations and play in our beautiful Marin habitat. Each 6-week session includes at least 3 sessions dedicated to working with Marin County Open Space and the Mill Valley Parks Department on restoration projects in Mill Valley.

Our opportunities for hands-on, experiental learning will center around

• Central California climate and Marin County microclimates
•Mt. Tamalpais watershed and Mill Valley's creek system
• edible and useful native plants, invasive plants and what fruits and vegetables grow well in Marin
• Marin County's domestic and native animals
• sites and customs of the Coastal Miwok of the Huimen and Aguasto territories
• Spanish immigrant activities
• geology, gold rush and earthquakes
• development of Mill Valley
